
do_action Uyo is a community-driven initiative where the local WordPress community in Uyo comes together to give back by building websites for nonprofit organizations.
This is planned as an annual event, bringing together volunteers who contribute their time and skills to support organizations making a difference across Uyo and Nigeria. All websites are designed and developed at no cost to the nonprofits.
do_action charity hackathons are organized around the world as part of the WordPress community. Each event focuses on helping selected nonprofits establish a strong online presence by building brand-new websites in a single day.
Who Can Participate?
Each website is built by a dedicated team of 6 to 8 people, working together across different roles:
- Project Managers
- Designers / Graphic Artists
- Content Writers
- Social Media Managers
- Developers (2 to 3 per team)
- QA Testers
If you are in Uyo or nearby and have experience with WordPress or digital skills, you are welcome to participate. Even if you are still learning, this is a great opportunity to collaborate and grow.
What Do Participants Gain?
Participants get the opportunity to:
- Work in teams and learn from other creatives and developers
- Share knowledge and improve practical skills
- Contribute to meaningful causes in the community
- Connect with like-minded people and build new relationships
Meals and refreshments will be provided throughout the day, and participants will also receive branded event materials.
For NGOs and Nonprofits
If you are a nonprofit or charity organization, this event offers a unique opportunity to get a professionally built website without the usual cost.
Instead of spending limited funds on web development, you can benefit from the support of a skilled volunteer team who will design and build your website in one day.
This allows your organization to focus more resources on your core mission while gaining a strong online presence to reach more people.
Selected organizations will:
- Receive a well-designed WordPress website
- Work directly with a volunteer team during the event
- Get basic training on how to manage and update their website

Please note that at least one or two representatives from your organization must be available on the day of the event to work with the team and provide guidance on your content and goals.
Sponsorship Opportunities
We are inviting organizations and businesses to support do_action Uyo as sponsors and partners.
We expect between 50 to 100 participants, depending on the number of nonprofit websites being built. We don’t have fixed sponsorship amounts and will accept any donation amount. Most importantly, we welcome tools donations (plugin & theme licenses, hosting, domain name purchase, tees, and branded items), please email us if you would like to support our event
As a sponsor, you will receive:
- Brand visibility at the event venue
- Recognition during the event
- Your logo featured on the event website
- Mentions across our social media channels before, during, and after the event
- Opportunity to engage directly with participants
