For the past few years, we’ve been organizing these pre-WordCamp activities to attract new people to our Community. We believe it’s a great way to showcase the possibilities of this tool and to show that it’s not just “geek stuff.”
That’s why we coordinate two different activities on the same day and at the same place, bringing together beginners, users, and WordPress professionals.
We chose this format because we want to be an open group where everyone can find their place, and to be an active part of Galicia’s society. Our goal is to create synergies with other groups, collaborate with good causes, and fight against the digital divide.
If you’d like to participate, you can find all the information, schedule, and registration form on this page: do_action Pontevedra
Introductory WordPress Workshop (theory & practice)
This activity is designed for anyone interested in discovering how building a website works. Maybe you’ve always wanted to have your own site but never got around to it, or thought it would be too complicated to do on your own.
Guided by an experienced professional like Fernando Tellado, you’ll dive into the world of WordPress and discover just how simple and fast it is to create a website with this platform.
do_action Hackathon
do_action is simply the WordPress Community’s name for an event where we come together to plan and build websites for local non-profit organizations in just one day.
Thanks to the participants of the introductory workshop, to anyone who wants to join, and to the wider WordPress Community, we’ll be able to improve the visibility and digital presence of these organizations, helping their projects reach even further.
Acknowledgements
This event could not take place without the collaboration of LucusHost as in-kind sponsor. They provide the web hosting for the non-profit organizations whose websites will be created.
And of course, our thanks go to Pont-Up Store, the event and association that always supports us, as part of its parallel program of activities. Once again, it brings to Pontevedra an initiative open to all citizens, with the goal of supporting entrepreneurs and fostering an entrepreneurial culture in society.
